Psychotherapy for Adults, Teens, and Children
Specializing in OCD, Anxiety, and Intrusive Thoughts
About Julia
I provide compassionate therapy for adults, adolescents, and children with OCD and anxiety disorders. My approach is warm, collaborative, and practical, with treatment tailored to each person rather than applied as a one-size-fits-all protocol. I use Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), the gold-standard treatment for OCD, and have a particular interest in unwanted intrusive thoughts, rumination, moral scrupulosity, existential OCD, and presentations involving primarily mental compulsions. I also specialize in working with neurodivergent clients of all ages and children navigating parental separation and divorce.
Before becoming a therapist, I spent over two decades as a primatologist studying chimpanzees and other apes. Observing primate social groups deepened my understanding of nonverbal communication, nervous-system regulation, and the ways relationships shape behavior. This background informs my understanding of attachment, co-regulation, and the deeply social nature of human learning and development.
I bring this relational perspective to evidence-based treatment, creating a space where clients feel respected and supported while working toward meaningful change.
